Among The Stars is an educational video game about stars' life cycles developed for an AP Research Project. 

If you are NOT a participant of the research study, but would still like to play Among The Stars, please follow the game's instructions and enter "1001" when asked for your 3 digit code.

Controls:

Upgrades

  • Click the green (+) button to the right of an upgrade to purchase one level of it. This action will cost the displayed amount of stardust
  • Click the red (-) button to the left of an upgrade to  sell one level of it. This will reimburse you the displayed amount
  • Click the "Ready" button when you are done

Star Creation

  • Click to spawn a supernova, which will push hydrogen particles away from its location
  • The number of supernovas you have left to place is displayed in the bottom left
  • The mass of the largest star on screen is displayed in the top left
  • Once you have placed all of your supernovas, a "Next" button will appear. Click this when you are ready to move on

Life Cycle Progression

  • Stars' life cycles will vary depending on the mass of the largest star you created during the Star Creation phase
  • Your best mass (highscore) will be displayed in the top left,  under the mass of the star you created
  • Once the life cycle is complete, you will be told how much stardust you earned, and may click "Next" to return to the Upgrades screen to buy upgrades before making another star

Press P or ESC at any time to pause the game. From the pause screen, you may return to the main menu at any time. In the main menu, you may click on the "Replay Tutorial" button, and then clicking the play button will cause the tutorial to be replayed.

 

Issues

If you encounter any problems, please reload the page. Most, if not all of your progress will be saved.
